2019 Performance Application Information
The 9th annual Going Dutch Festival, produced by Side Street Studio Arts, is a celebration of the female voice in dance, music, theater, and the visual arts. The Festival will be held in Elgin, IL June 21-23, 2019. We are changing things up this year! We want our audiences up close and sharing space with the artists. All performances and exhibitions will be held in smaller, more intimate spaces. No fourth wall. No pomp.
For the third year in a row, we have the ability to provide stipends to a select number of artists, as well as a commission for a brand new performance work to be created and premiered at the 2019 Going Dutch Festival and to support a featured visual artist! Stipends/commissions will range from $50 to $1000 and will be determined at the time of your festival acceptance by Friday, March 1. New this year - featured artists do not have to be based in Illinois.
SEEKING: (must fit in a non-traditional or 30ft by 20ft performance space, or have a creative suggestion for a site-specific space in downtown Elgin, IL)
Dance – contemporary and traditional choreography of all styles, performance art, multi-media, and dance for the camera work
Theatre – scenes, one-acts, excerpts of a play, solo performances, spoken word, and multi-media work
Music - solo artists and ensembles welcome, all genres welcome
Visual Art - two-dimensional, three-dimensional, video, audio and multi-media artwork created by self-identified women.
Works must be created (choreographed, written, developed, etc.) by a self-identified girls and women, but not all performers need to be female. All ages and experience levels are welcome.
Going Dutch will be curated by a panel of six professional female artists currently working in the dance, theatre, and visual art fields.
Rehearsal footage or video of similar work is acceptable for submission.

APPLICATION FEE:
Performing Artists may submit as many works as they like for an application fee of ONLY $5 PER PIECE.
You will be invoiced via PayPal for your application fee following receipt of your application. Applications will not be considered until application fees have been paid.

*Side Street Studio Arts Artist Members do not have to pay the application fee.
