Acting Out Awareness presents SparkArt, a workshop series for artists interested in creating social justice theatre. Started as a way of bridging the gap between artists and social activist, each event partners with a Chicago-based non-profit to explore their work and how artists can help benefit the organization. The first event partners with Amnesty International to explore enforced disappearances in Sri Lanka. The evening will feature a presentation and curriculum designed to get artists involved in creating pieces around the initiatives. The event is free but pre-registration is required. Register here:

About Amnesty International:

All people have fundamental human rights. But those rights are abused or denied every single day. When that happens, Amnesty International finds the facts, exposes what’s happening, and rallies people together to force governments and others to respect everyone’s human rights. And we get results. Last year alone, Amnesty International helped free 153 people who were wrongfully imprisoned because of who they are or what they believe – and we changed laws in dozens of countries on refugees, reproductive rights, LGBT equality, free speech, the death penalty, and other critical human rights issues.

About Acting Out Awareness:

Acting Out Awareness is a non-profit that partners with individuals, organizations, and communities to promote personal and social change through performing arts and values-based leadership education. Past partnerships have included the Peace Corps, and DePaul University.
