PLEASE SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION SLOT AT:
15 Seconds to Curtain is a zany, immersive farce inspired by the classy, good ol' fashioned variety show (ie. The Muppet Show) from the mind behind "'Tis! A Dungeons and Dragons Improv Show". It will be presented at Stage 773 in Chicago, Fridays from June 22nd - July 13th 2018.
The show follows Isaac (a puppet) and his friend Marcus (a human), who are trying to survive the physical and emotional toll from their variety show’s opening night. We are looking for actors to fill character roles as well as variety acts/performers who are game to adjust their act and play along with the action! (puppetry experience not required)
15 Seconds to Curtain encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to audition. You must be 21+ to audition.
*Audition will consist of a cold read of sides provided when you arrive.
The Stagehand: They "live" at the theater and were given this gig as a favor. Will go above and beyond to do the bare minimum.
The House Manager: A thorn in Isaac’s side. Cheerful and upbeat. The unaware antagonist.
Delivery Person: Working class hero. Probably spends too much time reading Karl Marx.
Audience Member(s): They would probably enjoy the show if they weren't so busy talking about how comfortable the seats are.
Light Board Operator: The only person qualified to run this show. They quit halfway through and hang out "backstage" and watch the show fall apart.
Stand-Up, Music, Puppetry, Magic & Illusion, Spoken Word, Poetry, Dance, Impersonations, Stage Combat, Burlesque, Clowning, etc.
It doesn't have to be comedic! All we ask is that audition material is kept under 5 minutes.
Variety Act submissions that are not available for the audition on April 27th can submit video/links to firstname.lastname@example.org Deadline for video submissions is Midnight, Saturday April 28th.
* *Variety Acts that are cast may be given a few scripted lines.
Please email your headshot/resume to email@example.com with the time of your audition slot in the subject line. You will not need to bring a hard copy to the audition.
Auditions will be held at the iO Theatre (1501 N Kingsbury St.) in the 3rd Beat Room in the Training Center Upstairs. Check-in will be at the Upstairs Bar. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your audition slot to fill out an audition form and review sides.
Rehearsals begin in early May and will be scheduled according to the availability of the ensemble. The show will run Fridays at 10:30pm from June 22nd - July 13th in the Cab Theatre at Stage 773.
