Nothing Without a Company is nothing without you! Which is why we’re looking for writers to participate in a free one-day playwriting workshop located in their neighborhoods. Our mission is to present site-specific and immersive theater in non-traditional spaces, and we want to help writers who may or may not have training in playwriting to learn about how we make new work based on specific locations in the city.
The goal of this year’s festival is to produce new plays that respond to local issues and public spaces in multiple Chicago neighborhoods. We will be holding the one-day workshops to help both those new to writing and established playwrights explore crafting scenes prompted by a specific location. Following the workshops, a submission period will open for the New World Play Festival, where chosen plays will be developed and staged for audiences in August 2019.
The first in the series of workshops will be held: Sunday, February 24 from 1pm-3pm at Roman Susan Gallery (1224 W Loyola Ave., directly off the Loyola red line).
