Separating Shabbat from the Week with Ecstatic Shiviti Dancing

A meditative, ecstatic dance experience where we practice awareness of the movements of our Divine Body, as we dance through the energy and rhythms of the Sephirot. We begin with an awareness practice of Divine Body Movement and journey into a dance through the rhythms of the Tree of Life, closing with a dancing Havdalah ceremony, all as part of a 90 minute ecstatic Shiviti Dance. No experience required. Dress comfortably.

Doors Open for Warm-Up / Loosen-Up at 7:15 PM The Ravdalah dancing ritual will begin at 7:45 PM. Sharp.

What is Shiviti Dancing?
A Maggidic Dance Practice Integrating Body, Spirit, and The Tree of Life. We are created in the image of the Divine. Through ecstatic and meditative dance we learn to integrate the movements of our divine bodies with our life spirit, Nefesh V'guf, in order to gain greater awareness of our consciousness, our emotions and to be in tune with the rhythms of life. In this practice, using exotic world and Jewish music, we dance through the rhythms of the Sephirot (Divine Emanations of the Tree of Life), embodying the dialectic of Hachna'ah, Havdallah and Hamtakah. (Surrender, Articulation/Distinction and Sweetening).

Shiviti Dancing and Ravdalah is facilitated by DJ Avi J.
DJ Avi J is the Ravdallah persona of Alan Goldberg. Over the last 12 years, Alan has studied a number of varied Jewish mystical teachings. He has completed the two year Jewish Meditation Advanced Training program and the two year Maggidic Journey program, both at Elat Chayim. With Rabbi J. Hershy Worch, he has studied the Torah of Reb Elimelech, Rabbi Mordechai Joseph of Ishbitz and the Sefer Yetzirah. Alan has also practiced Ecstatic Dance for three years with the Mandala Center For Transformational Arts. In addition to Shiviti Dancing, Alan is a creator and facilitator of Shiviti Drumming.
