Professional Organizations/Unions - Dance

Membership in AGMA includes such benefits as accident insurance, health benefits, legal services, mortgages, pension, loans and the AGMA Emergency Relief Fund administered by the Actors Fund. AGMA represents opera and concert singers, production personnel and dancers at principal opera, and concert and dance companies.

Scan is the ASF's quarterly newsletter, published seasonally. Unlike Scandinavian Review to which a person may subscribe independently, the newsletter is available only as a membership benefit to those who join the Foundation. The 12-page newsletter covers the Foundation's activities and cultural programs at Scandinavia House. The "News of Scandinavia" section provides capsule accounts of current events in all five Nordic countries, and the National Calendar lists selected Scandinavian events across the United States.

An extensive list of book titles, periodicals, and specialty publishers which covers a range of topics� from fundraising, marketing, and other organizational development concerns to contemporary issues affecting the arts field. Other subjects include cultural facilities, programming, public art, artist self-management, and career development.

An online listing of the Alliance's member events. Members are Asian American artists and arts groups in all artistic disciplines working in NYC.

Business and Presenter Memberships. Business members (Artists, Artist Managers, Consultants and Vendors) are entitled to: exhibit at Annual Members Conference; access presenter list through the Information Exchange Database; a subscription to Inside Arts Magazine; list represented artist roster in the Online Membership Directory/Artist Roster Database and in the annual Artist Roster issue of Inside Arts; free job postings in the Arts Presenters JobBank. Presenter and Programmer Members have access to funding opportunities (travel and audience development) and Brochure Exchange, artist rosters and the annual members conference.

The AIDS Training and Education Program (ATEP) provides special services to The Fund’s AIDS Initiative clients who are ready to return to the workplace, need support and guidance in addressing current employment issues, and/or develop new interests that could lead to employment and/or a fulfilling life. Clients work with the ATEP Counselor to identify interests and skills, obstacles to employment, and/or appropriate education and training opportunities. Where appropriate, ATEP clients participate in the Actors’ Work Program services and programs.

Members receive a monthly Newsletter, can attend occasional membership meetings and workshops, have access to a resource library with information on funding and touring, have access to credit union membership, receive discounts for concert tickets and recordings, and receive career development information including resume review, counseling on job hunting strategies, and insurance referrals. Individual members can also be listed in the Teaching Directory for music and dance.
