Dance Teacher + Group Class Program Manager

Ballroom Dance Chicago seeks a motivated, self-starting, responsible individual to oversee our growing group class program in addition to teaching private and group dance lessons at our Lakeview studio. This full-time position will begin as mostly administrative, focusing on managing operations relating to group class schedules, students, and engagement/marketing, while the candidate goes through dance and teacher training.

While we see this as an entry-level position, our philosophy is to facilitate growth in our employees. Responsibilities include:

Group Class Administrative Duties:

  • Oversee group class programming, including the current and future sessions
  • Log attendance & payment as received by the teachers
  • Manage marketing and advertising in collaboration with the Studio Director and Social Media Assistant
  • Plan and schedule future group class sessions based on current and anticipated needs/desires of students
  • Design new programs & events to enhance engagement of current students
  • Oversee daily practice socials


Private Lesson and Group Class Teaching Duties:

  • Plan and develop lesson plans that engage, excite, and inspire beginner dancers
  • Teach tailored private lessons to students looking to dance at their wedding or as a hobby
  • Take notes, track payments, and manage email contact with students
  • Plan and teach fun and engaging group classes



Other Duties:

  • Assist in the upkeep of studio space
  • Pitch in on other projects as necessary


Position / studio hours are Tuesday - Friday: 1-10pm and Saturdays 11am - 5pm.

Compensation is based upon experience.

Skills & Qualifications: 

A successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in management; be it corporate, event, production, program etc.

  • Dance experience (while ballroom dance experience is not required, a strong background in movement is a must)

  • Understanding of how dance classes generally operate and how to get beginners excited about dance. While teaching experience is not required, it is strongly preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Desire to work in a tight-knit team while being self-starting & responsible for their own projects

  • A bright disposition and the ability to find the best solution in tough situations

  • The following qualities: detail oriented, technology-savvy, and forward-thinking

  • A “yes, and” mentality
