Chicago's fastest-growing professional theatre & performing arts conservatory, is looking for three new staff members due to a restructuring of our programs.
SCHOOLSITE PROGRAMS DIRECTOR
Part-Time: 25-28 hours per week
Anticipated start date is February 1
Requires regularly scheduled daily hours, Mon thru Friday in the afternoon, flexible but consistently including the 2:30pm-5:30pm time period every day while schools are in sessions. Hours may increase to 30-35 hours during schoolsite tech and show weeks in January-Feb and May-early June. You will be required to substitute teach on occasion, if there is no one else available. Except for scheduled visits to schools, substitute teaching, etc., all the work for this position must be done at our offices in Jefferson Park (steps from the Blue Line).
This theatre educator will manage all of the aspects of our highly successful Schoolsite program, which is now partnering with nearly 20 schools all around NW Chicago. In these programs, we provide teaching artists, production elements, and administration functions like registration and parent communication for a full-service performance program at the schools. We have programs for 1st thru 8th at CPS, Archdiocese and other private schools. All the programs end in a produced show, with production value varying by age and specific location.
This key staff member will...
•Manage and oversee all processes related to our Schoolsite programs.
•Carryout the Founding Artistic Director's vision for excellence in these schoolsite programs.
•Supervise or co-supervise the work of the Schoolsite Producer.
•Recruit, interview and hire teaching artists for the Schools
•Coordinate and co-facilitate teacher training program with Artistic Director / Dean
•Approve bi-weekly paychecks for teachers, written and issued by Office Manager
•Procure subs for teachers who have conflicts
•Serve as regular teacher liaison to the Company, assist teachers with discipline, facilities, resources help they need
*Rotate on a school visit schedule to observe & mentor teachers and check-in with building administrators at the sites. Provide strong, practical mentoring and solutions to problems, especially for less experienced teachers.
•Take the lead on parent communication & volunteer coordination for each site
•Serve as registrar for all the various Conservatory programs, processing over-the-phone enrollments, walk-up enrollments, and other registration-related requests
•Assist in simple marketing functions to promote the programs at the schools - email blasts, simple graphic design, dropping materials.
•Follow-up on late tuition payments with office manager.
*Process and award financial aid applications for Schooslite families
•Lead Coordination of logistics of load-in, tech week and performances with schools. There is a Schoolsite Producer and Production Assistant team that does all of the execution of the load-ins, tech weeks, and shows.
•EARLY-JUNE to LATE-JULY: During the Schoolsite "down time," spend about 50% of time as Assistant Summer Camp Manager and work on Summer Kids, Youth & Teen Productions. All hands on deck for our busy summer camp season at our Jeff Park campus, and at other locations in Chicagoland.
*Attend regular staff meetings and occasional check-ins with the Artistic Director.
*You will be required to substitute teach on occasion.
