Chicago's fastest-growing professional theatre & performing arts conservatory, is looking for three new staff members due to a restructuring of our programs.
PRODUCING DIRECTOR OF CONSERVATORY
Youth Company, Teen Company, Kids Company, Spotlight, Dance & Voice Classes, plus Mainstage Youth & Teen enrollment
Part-Time: 20-22 hours per week, plus increase to 30 hours per week in the summer
Anticipated start date is late February or early March
This is a combination educator-administrator-producer position, which requires previous education experience, as well as skills & knowledge in production, and strong administrative & customer service orientation. This person will become the face of our Conservatory to families, as well as the go-to and fix-it person for our production team and directors.
Requires regularly scheduled hours with some flexibility. We do need this person to be available for most Saturday mornings when we are in session to be our customer service and teacher support with Spotlight, Kindermusik and other programs. This position also is required to attend some evening and weekend events like tech rehearsals, voice recitals, dance performances, and final showings, etc. This is not a work-from-home position.
•Manage all processes related to our Conservatory programs: Teen Company, Youth Company, Kids Company, Spotlight, Kindermusik, Summer Camps, and dance, vocal and skills-based classes we offer. Serve as the Production Manager for these programs.
•Assist with auditions and enrollment for Youth & Teens in Mainstage productions.
•Recruit and hire teaching artist-directors, with the Artistic Director.
*Recruit and hire production personnel, creative team for Youth, Teen and Kids shows.
*Coordinate and co-facilitate teacher-director training with Artistic Director
*Approve paychecks for the production, directorial and creative teams, written and issued by Office Manager
•Serve as regular liaison to the Company, assist teacher-directors with discipline, facilities, resources help they need.
*Plan occasional visits to rehearsals, attend all regular production and team meetings for the Youth Company and Teen Company.
•Take the lead on parent communication & volunteer coordination for each program; become the face of the Company for these students and parents. Form positive relationships with families.
•Share in basic facilities upkeep functions and basic maintenance for theatre equipment.
•Serve as registrar for Conservatory programs, processing over-the-phone enrollments, walk-up enrollments, and other registration-related requests, Follow-up on late payments with office manager.
*Process and award financial aid applications for Conservatory families
•Lead Coordination of logistics of load-in, tech week and performances for these programs.
*Attend performances of dance and vocal programs to assistant with production needs and welcome families.
•Serve as Summer Camp Manager and work on Summer Kids, Youth & Teen Productions. All hands on deck for our busy summer camp season at our Jeff Park campus, and at other locations in Chicagoland.
*Attend regular staff meetings and occasional check-ins with the Artistic Director.
*Other duties as assigned
Very much interested in "resident designers" who are also teachers to take on this role for additional compensation. Also, would be interested in a Producing Director who would like to teach/direct at least one program a year.
