The Metropolis School of the Performing Arts is seeking a Scenic Designer & Builder for our upcoming Spring production of King Midas and the Miraculous Golden Touch
KEY DUTIES
-Attend all production meetings, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals.
-Meet with Director and Coordinator to determine the needs of the production.
-Prepare sketches, ground plan, front elevations, paint elevations, model and other information as required by Director or
Coordinator.
-Oversee the purchase, construction, installation, maintenance, disposal and/or storage of all scenery and tools for the duration
of the production.
-Remain within a budget provided by Coordinator including all supplies, materials, labor, rental fees and any other reimbursable expenses and to keep a detailed record of all said expenses.
-Coordinate build times/site availability with Coordinator and communicate with Scenic Painter.
-Construct all set pieces. Deliver set pieces in a timely manner in accordance with the schedule listed.
-Hire & manage a build crew where applicable.
-Oversee and coordinate scenic load in and scenic strike with Coordinator.
-Handle major repairs or replacements of set pieces.
-Facilitate Strike. Arrange any truck rentals and over hire, and communicate with Coordinator about storage facilities.
-Perform all tasks free of any illegal substances or alcohol.
Build Period
March 17th through April 28th with Load-In on April 28th
Tech/Dress Rehearsals
Sunday, April 28th through Wednesday, May 1st – 3:30pm-8:30pm
Performances
Thursday, May 2nd at 10am & 6pm
Friday, May 3rd at 10am & 6pm
Saturday, May 4th at 1pm
Strike
Saturday, May 4th at 2:30pm
