Los Angeles Area Performances Courtesy of Dance Resource Center of Los Angeles "Met'a-mor'fo-sis" presenting an evening of new dance works created by the choreographers and dancers of Loyola Marymount University Dance Theater(LMUDT) in Strub Theater at Loyola Marymount University on April 23-26 2008. These artists have created pieces ranging from the abstract and contemporary to commercial hip-hop, while remaining united by their exploration of physicality, virtuosity, and personal expression. Yes is a long time is a dance-theatre play offering the true story of a "normal" family in Freehold New Jersey, who had a meteorite crash into their guest bathroom. The work is written by Sibyl O'Malley and choreographed in collaboration with performers Antonio Anagaran Jr, and Taisha Paggett. Los Angeles Ballet Summer Repertoire with Balanchine, Bournonville, Backhaus and Lubovitch Los Angeles Ballet will premiere The Evangelist, a spiritual duet choreographed by Lar Lubovitch with music by Charles Ives. Also being performed is Balanchine's Allegro Brillante, a bravura piece for five couples danced to an exhilarating score by Tchaikovsky and a World Premiere by Lester Horton Award winner Jennifer Backhaus of Backhaus Dance. Plus, back by popular demand, Bournonville's Napoli/ Pas de Six and Tarantella.
