The Academic Advisor will assist the Coordinator of Academic Programs / Student Services and will act as liaison between the School and high school counselors, community college counselors, and Office of Admissions and Records staff at UIC. Will assist in advising current and prospective undergrad and MFA students. Will assist with maintaining School policy, reviewing petitions, determining policy deviations, preparation of all Degree Audit Report transactions, including appropriate course substitutions. Will assist with student services issues (such as timetable, course writing, etc) and will attend recruitment fairs. Will assist in the planning and implementation of the annual portfolio review and will assist the Faculty Evaluation process. Will assist with all curricular activities across the school, including curriculum rewrites, etc., and will assist in the timetable and class scheduling process. Academic Advisor will work closely with the College of Architecture and Art Student Affairs staff and will assist with the MFA application processes including assisting with the student fellowship / teaching assistant processes. Will oversee facility maintenance issues as they pertain to undergraduate and MFA students and will conduct MFA studio check-in / check-out procedures. Also assists in the planning and managing annual MFA open house.
Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

Minimum requirements are a Bachelor of Arts (in an art or design related field is preferable), two years experience in an academic advising position is preferred. Excellent written oral / communication skills and knowledge of university software systems very desirable.
